Cognitive and creative workshops at our retirement home in Marano di Napoli

Contact us

Hotel Salus in Marano di Napoli organises creative and cognitive workshops for nursing home guests, planning different forms of animation and entertainment to engage our guests and meet their needs.

Manual-creative workshop

Our retirement home for the elderly in Naples includes a workshop involving the creation of small creative products, which are usually used within the environment in which the elderly stay, to create a personalised space that the senior can recognise as familiar.

Different techniques and experiments (painting with watercolours and tempera, decoupage, creation of objects in DAS and salt dough) aim to stimulate the imagination, to bring back memories and experiences.

    Using colours consciously and interacting with them leads to the rediscovery of residual skills and modes of communication other than the usual communication channels that allow the expression of different personalities. Many are the benefits of this type of activity, in particular:

    • stimulates fine motor skills;
    • promotes the expression of the inner world;
    • promotes the processing of emotions;
    • increases the sense of personal efficacy;
    • produces well-being through the stimulation of touch.

Personal care workshop

A stimulation intervention geared towards body care that includes aesthetic and relaxation treatment sessions. Body deterioration subjects the elderly person to a process of depersonalisation: his or her image reveals that he or she has been transformed into a person he or she no longer recognises.

This is why taking care of one's body helps one feel better, encourages one to care about one's well-being and positively influences psychological health.

    In addition, this activity promotes the habit of devoting oneself to daily routines, creating a sense of continuity between past time (spent at home) and present time (spent at the facility).

    Among the proposed interventions are: manicures, hand massages with moisturising cream, cleansing and care treatments for the face and neck, with benefits such as:

    • maintain a good relationship with one's body
    • increase self-esteem;
    • generate moments of relaxation;
    • promote opportunities for free discussion and communication;
    • foster socialisation.

Cognitive stimulation workshop

An activity geared towards activating cognitive resources such as memory, attention, and concentration. The exercises always take the form of a game and, precisely for this reason, take place preferably in groups. The choice of material, such as coloured playing cards and board games, is also made to create an atmosphere of team play and fun. In this way, participants train their minds by playing and establishing alliance relationships, laying the foundations for the creation of a friendship network necessary to feel the new context as familiar. Among the activities proposed: are memory, association games, the difference game, word games, and guess the song. The benefits of such activities can be:

  • Maintaining and improving residual skills
  • Counteracting cognitive impairment
  • Promotion of a sense of cooperation
  • Integration and formation of a community network
