A retirement home for the elderly with rich history

Salus, the retirement home for the elderly in Naples, began in the early 1950s when Dr. Mario Darmon initiated the construction in Marano di Napoli of a tuberculosis sanatorium named after his son Roberto, a medical student who died prematurely at the age of 27 precisely because of tuberculosis: the doctor, therefore, wished to build a sanatorium, placing his facility in a location characterised by a healthy atmosphere.

The work, which lasted many years, was continued by Dr. Darmon's widow until its completion in the mid-1960s: by that time, however, the anti-tuberculosis vaccine had been discovered, and thus the purpose for which the facility had been conceived had become obsolete.

The premises were therefore used as a Seminary Convent until 1993, when a team of doctors converted them into a hotel home for the elderly, creating the Hotel Salus R. Darmon in Marano di Napoli.

Today, the retirement home accommodation for the elderly in Naples is managed by the Orizzonte family, which boasts 20 years of experience in the field of assistance and care for the elderly. The new management has taken charge of a thoroughly functional, logistical, environmental and professional redevelopment of the hotel home for the elderly in Marano di Napoli, aiming to offer the best possible care service to its guests.
